Land Kiting - Kite Landboarding - $175 per person or $150 per person for group lessons

Land kiting, otherwise known as kite landboarding, is an easy way to get started with power kites. Most people can get the hang of it within a few hours, and the kite control and board skills are great crossover training for kiteboarding on the water. We use the new 2007 Access depowerable foils from Ozone kites, and always start out with a smaller kite for safety. The landboard is different from kiteboarding on the water because it has less drag, so you can use a much smaller kite and still get plenty of speed. The equipment is less expensive that for kiteboarding on the water, and we have some incredible beaches here in St. Augustine for landboarding at low tide!

3-4 hour class depending size of group
Kite control with trainer kite
Basic depowerable foil kite setup on the beach
Flying unhooked on the beach to master basic kite control
Learn basic power stroke standing in one place
Start on the board while slowly turning the kite heading downwind
Once you get a little speed, learn to edge against the kite with the board
Next you will learn how to stop by turning upwind against the kite and sliding sideways with your board
Once you have mastered these basic kite landboarding skills we will work on basic transitions, turning from one side to the other
