Kiteboarding Lessons & Instruction Program - First Coast Kiteboarding

Kiteboarding lessons and instruction are the fastest way to learning to kiteboard proficiently and get out on the water safely. Eddie Toy, founder of First Coast Kiteboarding, has been teaching kitesurfing for 5 years in the St. Augustine area of northeast Florida without a single injury or incident. In that time, we have taught over 300 students to kiteboard successfully in association with Extreme Kites, the largest kiteboarding equipment dealer in the southeast United States. This season, in order to meet the increasing demand and popularity of kitesurfing, we are expanding our lessons program, adding instructors, and new kiteboarding lessons programs.

Whether you are a newbee looking to see what kiteboarding is all about, or an avid waterman who wants to take their skills to the next level, we have a kiteboarding instructional program for you. For beginners with no previous experience, we recommend that you take the NewBee to kiteboarding clinic to learn how to fly a trainer kite, or purchase a trainer kite and practice on your own for a few days before taking a lesson. Then, when you are ready, sign up for the Intro to Kiteboarding course. This course, usually completed over 2 days, is designed to give you the skills necessary to get your own equipment and practice on your own.

Of course, we always recommend that you have a buddy or find out where the other kiters are riding that day so that you have someone else to watch out for you. When you are learning, it is always best to remain downwind of other kiters at first. No matter what your level of riding, always make sure to have at least 2 line lengths downwind of you free of people or obstacles before launching your kite. Then get in the water as quickly as possible. Once you practice some and get to an intermediate level, you might be ready for an intensive kiteboarding camp. These are designed to take your riding to the next level, with a daily skills progression depending on your experience. Please check out our Kiteboarding Camps page for additional information.
